3 Days Tanzania Safari from Zanzibar Itinerary for First Timers
This three-day safari in Tanzania begins and ends on the island of Zanzibar, making it the ideal choice for anyone living on the spice island or visiting Zanzibar for a beach holiday. If you want to experience a true traditional wildlife safari in the Northern Circuit and are interested in the Big Five, this 3-day safari from Zanzibar is actually the best package one can undertake.
Due to the low distances involved and the close proximity of the three parks you will see, the 3-day tour is a fantastic package for people of all ages. The three-day Tanzania safari, which starts and ends at Zanzibar Airport, takes you to three of the best parks in Tanzania’s Northern Circuit, including the Ngorongoro Crater, one of the country’s two most well-known wildlife parks, the Tarangire National Park, and the tiny yet unique Lake Manyara National Park.
SAFARI in Tanzania was NOT what I expected! (Tarangire & Serengeti)
You will begin your tour of the wild by visiting Tarangire National Park, which is renowned for its exceptionally large elephant herds, the enormous baobab trees that dot the area, as well as uncommon animals like gerenuks and oryxes. Accommodations during the safari can be found in a pleasant tent camp or lodge nearby, just outside the park’s boundaries, with stunning views of the surrounding plains and Lake Burunge in the distance. You can alternatively choose to stay at a less expensive midrange lodge in the Karatu region, where we can transport you in the late afternoon following successful game drives in the Tarangire. This will allow you to stay in the same lodge for the duration of your safari.
Consider our 3-day Flying Serengeti safari departing from Zanzibar if you want to travel as far as Serengeti National Park and have the money to do so.
3 Day Tanzania Safari from Zanzibar: Where to visit
The Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its exceptional abundance of species that may be viewed at very close range, will be your next stop on your 3-day Tanzanian safari journey. Consider lions, elephants, leopards, black rhinoceroses, and buffaloes. With a little bit of luck, all the big five can be seen in this “Eden of Africa” in a single day. Accommodations on this day can be found in a lodge right on the rim of the crater (at an additional cost) or at the lovely mid-range resort that we have included in this tour’s itinerary in Karatu, which is only a short drive from the Loduare Gate, the primary entrance to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
The evergreen Lake Manyara National Park, widely known for its fabled tree climbing lions among many other animals and birds that may be observed in this little park, will be your final stop on your three-day safari in Tanzania from Zanzibar. With over 400 bird species documented here, the park is a great site to watch hippos beside the lake. You also might get lucky and spot flamingos or other aquatic birds. For bird lovers, Lake Manyara is one of the parks they must visit.
You will be returned to the domestic airport in Arusha for your trip to Zanzibar Island later in the day. If you are leaving this day from Kilimanjaro, you can also be dropped off (for a nominal cost) there. Alternatively, if your international departure is on the final day of your three-day safari in Tanzania that began in Zanzibar, you can fly to Dar es Salaam. Your incredible three-day “taste of Tanzania” safari from Zanzibar comes to an end at this point.
Consider our 3-day Mikumi National Park safari from the Zanzibar Island if you want to do a 3-day safari from Zanzibar for less money. Please let us know which one you favor.
