A Detailed 4-Day Tanzania Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Arusha – Ngorongoro Crater

You will be driven to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area upon your arrival in Arusha, picked up at your arrival, and then taken to the Crater Floor following registration. Enjoy a picnic lunch by the Hippo poolside after a full day of game drives on the floor.

The hunt for rhinos, elephants, lions, buffalo, zebras, impalas, gerenuks, and more will resume after lunch on game drives around the Crater bottom. The avian inhabitants of Ngorongoro Crater are well-known, and visitors to the lake market located in the crater floor can observe a wide variety of waterfowl, including flamingos, pelicans, Egyptian geese, and many more.

Hammerkops, lilac-breasted rollers, weavers, and many more species are included in the bird kingdom. You will spend the night at Ngorongoro Rhino Lodge after driving along the Crater Rim later in the afternoon. Meal and lunch included.

Day 2: Ngorongoro Crater – Serengeti National Park

Your journey to Tanzania’s most renowned and pioneering national park, the Serengeti, will begin after breakfast at your lodge. You can stop in Olduvai Gorge, the site of the Leakey family’s fossil discoveries that provided evidence that humans originated in Africa, on your journey.

Every season brings its fair share of wildlife to the Serengeti, but few can match the spectacle of the Migration herds. Among the many animals that call this place home are zebras, baboons, buffalo, elephants, cheetahs, lions, and countless bird species. For that “out of Africa style” vibe, you can spend the night at Mawe Tented Camp. Meals are provided.

Day 3: Safari in Serengeti National Park

Start your day with an early game drive before returning to the lodge or tented camp for breakfast. Then, spend the afternoon relaxing or going on a full day of wildlife drives over the Serengeti plains. Lunch will be had at one of the designated sites.

After that, you can take a game drive across the plains as the sun sets. Return to Mawe Tented Camp for the night. Meals are provided.

Day 4: Serengeti – Drive back to Arusha

The day will begin with an early morning wildlife drive (if desired) in the Serengeti before you begin the lengthy trip back to Arusha or the airport.
