Luxury Safaris in the Serengeti National Park made for you
The Serengeti is a renowned national park, annually accommodating the Great Migration of over 1.5 million wildebeest and 250,000 zebras that traverse to and from the adjacent Maasai Mara in Kenya, alongside a remarkable diversity of species that resides throughout the year.
Covering 14,750 square kilometres (5,700 square miles), about equivalent to Connecticut, its name originates from the Maasai term siringet, meaning ‘the region where the earth stretches on forever,’ aptly characterising its expansive savannah plains that extend to the horizon. Characterised by umbrella acacia trees and robust baobabs, the environment has roaming giraffes, resting lion prides, lumbering elephant herds, and vigilant cheetahs perched on termite mounds, epitomising the essence of East Africa.
- Visit the park in July and August to observe the wildebeest’s stunning crossing of the Mara River during their Great Migration.
- Immerse yourself in the unspoiled natural ambiance before dawn during exhilarating morning wildlife drives.

- Ascend above herds of wildlife during hot air balloon safaris.

Serengeti Safaris
The Western Corridor extends nearly to Lake Victoria, tracing the wooded paths of the Mbalageti and Grumeti Rivers. The migration concentrates on the southern banks of the latter between May and June, depleting the grass before confronting the formidable Nile crocodiles that have been lying in ambush for months in a remarkably dramatic safari sight.
On the opposite bank lies the exclusive Grumeti Reserve and the secluded northern expanse of the park adjacent to the Kenyan border. The migration arrives at the Mara in September and October, although numerous animals remain on the Tanzanian side, proceeding south in November and arriving at the short-grass plains of the southern Serengeti in December, subsequently dispersing across a vast region that includes the Mwiba Wildlife Reserve and Ngorongoro Conservation Area before calving in February.
The Serengeti’s central region, particularly around Seronera, boasts remarkable wildlife, even post-migration in April and May. However, it is among the most frequented areas. We prefer to organise safaris in quieter, more secluded sections of the park or in exclusive private reserves adjacent to it, ensuring an optimal safari experience tailored to your travel preferences. We may also organise accommodations at several mobile safari camps that relocate every few months in accordance with the migration, which complement a stay at a permanent luxury lodge effectively.
