Once you get there, you can unwind in the common structure, which is a dhow-shaped building made of wood and thatch that is situated by the lake. The lodge’s entry is down a short flight of wooden steps, and it has open sides offering spectacular views of the glittering seas and surrounding golden sands. The gorgeous Mahale mountains are seen in the distance, and there are palm trees and other tropical plants in the background. The eating room includes stylish little separate tables, bordered by campaign chairs, and a range of drinks presented on a solid chest. The lounge comprises cozy sofas and armchairs around coffee tables in the campaign style. As you walk down to the beach, you’ll notice sun loungers covered by umbrellas, a fire pit area, and the lodge’s own jetty, which serves as the launch point for numerous boat safaris.

Ten safari rooms that offer some cooling shade and are all tucked into the treeline make up Kungwe’s guest accommodations. They are elevated on a wooden deck and covered in thatch, just like the communal lodge. You up a few steps to a private balcony with a few chairs, a coffee table, and stunning beach views. A writing desk and chair, a luggage rack, and a lockable Zanzibar chest for valuables are all included in each room, along with a four-poster double bed or twin beds with mosquito netting.

Activities Mbali Mbali Kungwe Beach Lodge

Mbali Mbali Mahale provides a fun range of activities:

  • Top of the list is chimpanzee trekking, which is done in the adjacent Mahale Mountains National Park’s wildlife-rich woods.
  • You might see an Angolan black-and-white colobus monkey, a huge forest squirrel, a red-legged sun squirrel, a brush-tailed porcupine, a bushy-tailed mongoose, a banded mongoose, a blue duiker, or a Sharpe’s grysbok as your guide takes you through the trees.
  • The chimpanzees, though, are without a doubt the main attraction here. Even while finding them could take several hours and the terrain in the forest can be challenging at times, the pleasure of spending time with them is well worth the journey. These are genuinely fascinating creatures because they seem so normal but also so alien.
  • Additionally, the forest is home to an amazing variety of birds and butterflies. Your guide is experienced at assisting you in identifying species and generally appreciating all the tiny life-forms in this fascinating region of the planet.
  • Back at the Lodge, kayaking, fishing, and boat rides are all available on Lake Tanganyika.
  • Fans of the blue safari will love the lake’s wide diversity of reptiles, fish, mollusks, and crustaceans.
  • And at the end of each day, you can relax around a campfire on the beach and admire the sunset over the distant mountains.
  • Fans of the blue safari will love the lake’s wide diversity of reptiles, fish, mollusks, and crustaceans.
  • And at the end of each day, you may unwind by a campfire on the sand while watching the sun set over the mountains in the distance.

Due to the lack of fencing and the property’s proximity to a wildlife area, huge and potentially hazardous animals do occasionally come through. If you decide to stay here, be cautious whenever you are roaming around the camp and ask a staff member to accompany you if you have any worries. After nightfall, every visitor is automatically guided.
