Detailed Namibia Desert And Community Safari Itinerary

Day 1-4: Welcome To Namibia! | 3 Nights

Location: Sossusvlei, Namibia

Sossusvlei | Namibia | All you need to know

Your Namibian experience commences as soon as the plane lands at Hosea Kutako International Airport. Your journey begins in the capital city of Windhoek, where you will be greeted and aided by a kind agent for your travel to the Sossusvlei via a light aircraft.

Upon disembarking from your private charter flight, you will immediately find yourself at Little Kulala Lodge. Situated within a private reserve in the central region of Namibia’s Namib Desert, this elegant lodge showcases a skillful integration of neutral hues and natural elements that seamlessly merge with the desert surroundings. The generously sized and cosy villas provide both solitude and privacy, while also offering an advantageous location that optimises panoramic vistas of the undulating sand dunes in the far distance.

Little Kulala Lodge offers convenient access to the renowned Namib Naukluft National Park and the majestic sand dunes of Sossusvlei. There is a wide selection of thrilling activities available to keep you occupied during your whole visit. Experience exhilarating early morning game drives in 4X4 safari vehicles or take part in guided nature walks through the private reserve, where you may gain a deeper understanding of the breathtaking natural environment.

Explore further into Sossusvlei to have the opportunity to ascend the renowned colossal sand dunes, such as Big Daddy and Dune 45, and then ride a quad bike to investigate the nearby region. Enhance your stay at Little Kulala by embarking on a remarkable adventure – a sunrise journey in a hot-air balloon, gliding above the Namib desert and admiring the scenic landscape from an elevated perspective.

Day 4-7: Big Game Country | 3 Nights

Location: Damaraland, Namibia

Namibia – Damaraland Tour

Damaraland Camp is a cosy and opulent camp located in the Torra Conservancy, situated on the northern side of the Huab River Valley. It offers remarkable vistas of the majestic Brandberg Mountains. Additionally, this location is situated right in the heart of an area known for its abundant wildlife. Therefore, stay vigilant and observe carefully for the uncommon desert-adapted elephant, as well as gemsbok (oryx), springbok, ostrich, and, if fortunate, lion and black rhino.

Damaraland Camp not only provides wildlife drives, guided nature walks, and mountain bike trips, but also offers exceptional cultural experiences. Since its establishment in 1996, the camp has been owned and primarily operated by the local population living in the Torra Conservancy. During your stay, you will have the opportunity to visit the local farms, Fonteine Pos and De Riet, and engage with the local communities to get insight into their distinctive heritage.

Visiting the Damara Living Museum is also planned. Located in close proximity to Twyfelfontein, this authentic Damara initiative offers a unique opportunity to immerse oneself in the traditional Damara culture, an experience that cannot be found anywhere else in Namibia or the world. Located in the town of Bersig, approximately 60 kilometres (37 miles) from the camp, you have the opportunity to interact with the youngsters of Jakob Basson Combined School.

Day 7-10: Meet The Himba | 3 Nights

Location: Kaokoveld, Namibia

Following your last satisfying breakfast at Damaraland Camp, you will be transported to Doro Nawas Airstrip. From there, you will board a charter flight to Serra Cafema Camp, your final destination. Nestled in the secluded Hartmann Valley of Kaokoland, this exquisite tented lodging is situated in such a remote location that it can only be reached by a light aeroplane and a 4X4 drive over the Namib Desert.

Throughout your visit, you will have the opportunity to enjoy awe-inspiring vistas of volcanic rock and towering sand dunes that merge to create a lunar-like ‘moonscape’. Kaokoland is not only known for its beautiful scenery, but also for its unique fauna that has adapted to the desert environment. Some examples of these animals include the Cape fix, horned adders, Ruppell’s korhaans, scimitar-horned oryx, and long-billed larks. You have the opportunity to observe these animals during game drives or when quad biking in the area. Consider incorporating sunset river cruises on the Kunene River and hiking in the Marienfluss Mountains into your to-do list.

Undoubtedly, your sojourn in this place would be insufficient without a trip to the nearby Himba hamlet, where you will interact with indigenous members of one of the few remaining nomadic tribes on Earth. During your stay at Serra Cafema Camp, one entire day will be allocated for a comprehensive visit to the Marienfluss school, a clinic financed by donors, and the offices of the Marienfluss Conservancy. A private vehicle will be assigned to you to assure your comfort during your cultural expedition.

Enjoy a delectable last breakfast at Serra Cafema before departing on your own charter flight back to Hosea Kutako International Airport for your return journey home. However, there is no need to be concerned, as this farewell is only temporary. We are confident that we will see you again in Africa for another thrilling safari experience.
