10 Days Etosha, Damaraland And Sossusvlei Fly-In Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Discover Namibia’s Capital | 1 Nights

Location: Windhoek, Namibia

Olive Grove Guesthouse is situated in a peaceful, verdant suburb of Windhoek, often called Africa’s favourite capital city, and will be transferred to you upon arrival at Windhoek International Airport. Relax and unwind after a long flight at this picturesque retreat with traditional Namibian hospitality and peaceful surroundings. There might even be time to take it all in of this charming, welcoming, and little offbeat Germanic city before dinnertime, when you can try some of the regional specialties.

Days 2-3: Start Your Etosha Safari | 2 Nights

Location: Etosha, Namibia

Wildlife Wonderland: 6 Epic Days in Etosha National Park

Have a traditional Namibian breakfast before you take a private plane to Etosha National Park. As you look down at the breathtaking terrain of Namibia, you can’t help but wonder what powerful geological forces worked so long ago to shape it.

Upon landing at the airstrip, a knowledgeable guide will accompany you on a wildlife drive through the private conservation area known as the Onguma wildlife Reserve, which borders Etosha National Park. This delightful lodge is a seductive blend of refinement and extravagance, and it is situated over a waterhole where animals frequently descend to drink. Indulge in a sumptuous high tea in the grand main building as you settle into your suite. Set out to explore the reserve with your guide after eating some of the delicacies on offer.

Open grassland gives way to acacia woodland, and as you look around, you might see a herd of startled kudu dart out from the trees like dancers. The reserve’s varied terrain offers a variety of perspectives and viewpoints. As the sun sets and casts a soothing glow, let yourself be embraced by the tranquil atmosphere of Onguma. However, there is also drama: while lions and elephants are common sights, nothing beats the excitement of seeing a black rhino in its natural habitat, a prehistoric beast completely attuned to its environment.

Your guide will choose a good vantage point to take in this untamed landscape as the sun sets below the horizon. As the sun sets, casting a rainbow of colours across the sky, it is natural to toast the conclusion of your first day in the Namibian wilderness with a refreshing drink.

Get back to the lodge for a delicious dinner provided by friendly wait staff and complemented by premium wines. And after supper, when the fire deck echoes with the sounds of the African night, have a nightcap while gazing up at the brilliant starry sky. Then, get some sleep, rocked to sleep by the faraway roar of a lion.

You wake up with the sun, sip your coffee, and watch the world awaken around you every morning. You will go on another safari, this time to Etosha National Park, after a light breakfast.

Days 4-5: Journey Into Dramatic Damaraland | 2 Nights

Location: Damaraland, Namibia

Take one last bite of breakfast while gazing out over Onguma’s waterhole. Then, make your way to the airfield to board your charter aircraft to Damaraland’s southern regions. The Twyfelfontein Conservancy is home to Mowani Mountain Camp, which looks like an eagle’s nest from its vantage point above a valley filled with massive boulders. First, cool yourself in the pool hidden behind the rocks. Then, go exploring.

On game drives through this enchanted forest, you can see rare and exotic flora and fauna, the most impressive of which are the desert elephants. Be amazed that an animal of this enormous size could survive in such a hostile environment.

Visit the world-renown San Bushman petroglyphs and rock paintings at Twyfelfontein on a journey through time and space to marvel at the works of art made by ancient hunter-gatherers.

The sundowner area at the lodge is the perfect way to cap off a fantastic day. Indulge in a delectable and extravagant feast paired with exquisite wines as you sit by the crackling campfire under the glittering Milky Way.

Day 6: The Towering Dunes Of Sossusvlei | 1 Nights

Location: Sossusvlei, Namibia

Sossusvlei Namibia – Desert Dunes of the Namib

As the sun rises, bring life to the valley below while sipping coffee on your terrace. You will be greeted with a warm grin and shown to your private suite at the Sossusvlei Desert Lodge after a sumptuous breakfast. Your guide will accompany you to the airfield for your flight.

Beautiful views of the Namib Desert—a place of limitless horizons, dune landscapes, and sharp mountain peaks—are shown off by the large windows and decks. As lovely as it would be to stay in your suite and take in the scenery, there are plenty of great things to do nearby.

On a guided tour, you may learn all about the desert’s secrets and see rare and exotic animals that have adapted to this hostile environment. These gigantic, wind-sculpted dunes are hundreds of metres tall and are a famous attraction in Namib-Naukluft National Park.

In the evening, head back to the lodge for a delicious dinner. Soak in the peace and quiet of this one-of-a-kind location before retiring to bed and looking up at the stars through the skylight.

Days 7-9: Dances In The Desert | 3 Nights

Location: Sossusvlei, Namibia

Wolwedans Dunes Lodge is reached via a picturesque road transfer that passes through the NamibRand Nature Reserve’s dramatic scenery.

Located on the rim of a dune plateau, this camp offers breathtaking views of the plains below and is aptly named “Where the Wolves Dance” (local brown hyenas were formerly known as wolves). The combination of canvas and wood creates an air of natural integration with the environment while leaving a small imprint. The lodge beckons you into the tranquilly of the desert with its stylish minimalism and lavish luxury.

Even though game drives here cover a lot of ground to provide a wide variety of habitats, the emphasis is on the experience rather than merely seeing animals; this isn’t Big Five country, but it is a place of unexpected wildlife encounters. Explore a hostile and merciless landscape that can sometimes reveal a tenacious beauty and meet its residents. This adventure, when combined with the interesting geology of the NamibRand, will provide you with a fresh viewpoint on the diversity of life on Earth.

Enjoy a desert sunset and a soft whispering breeze as you sip cocktails on a sundowner drive into the dunes. As the sun sets and the sky grows darker, there is a certain peace that washes over you as you raise a glass to the day’s end.

Day 10: Homeward Bound

You will be taken to the airport for your journey to Windhoek and then back home after a traditional Namibian breakfast and a final goodbye. Memories of your adventure resurface as you look out the aeroplane window at the intricate and beautiful scenery below: the warm and inviting people you’ve met, the breathtaking night sky above Namibia, and more. Remember the enveloping stillness of the crimson Namib Desert, ancient landscapes that defy the hands of time, and creatures that thrive in environments where others perish.
