The 300 square kilometres (120 sq mi) constitutes one of Uganda’s most valued forest reserves, safeguarding several plant and animal species. It is situated on gently undulating terrain, characterised by numerous flat-topped hills interspersed with broad stream valleys and surrounded by Lake Victoria on one side.

The road trip across western Uganda is remarkably enchanting for a couple observing from the expansive windows of a 4×4 safari vehicle. A continuous expanse of verdant banana and tea plantations, cow ranches, exquisitely terraced gardens, and undulating valleys and hills constitutes the visual experience of this road trip. It resembles traversing Bali, Switzerland, or Tuscany on a spring morning.
A lunch break will be made in Fort Portal, one of Uganda’s oldest cities situated at the foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains, offering stunning vistas of the majestic snow-capped summits. You will traverse the town briefly before driving several miles to your woodland lodge for a romantic meal and enchanting evening.
You’ll stay at: Ndali Lodge (FB- Luxury)
Day 6: Chimpanzee Trekking in Kibale
Rise early, partake in breakfast, and proceed to the briefing location to commence the chimpanzee trekking expedition. We cannot specify the duration of your time in the forest; therefore, you must bring your lunch pack and several litres of potable water.
Chimpanzee trekking is an engaging activity, as once the chimps are located, one must remain vigilant to keep pace with their movements for about an hour. The habituated chimpanzees in Uganda are vocal, energetic, socially engaged, uninhibited, and oblivious to human observers. They will perform actions that will astonish you!
Frequently, they will oscillate from tree branches, engage in combat, copulate, groom one another, or partake in primitive social interactions. Observing these fundamental giant apes in their natural habitat will undoubtedly enhance your admiration for both your romantic partner and humanity as a whole.
You must decide between the one-hour trekking trip or the extensive Chimpanzee Habituation trip, which may last nearly the full day. Regardless of your choice, few experiences can surpass trekking with wild chimpanzees in an African rainforest during a safari honeymoon.
During your morning chimpanzee expedition, it is common for other primates to intersect your route, such as the uncommon L’Hoest’s monkey and the red colobus monkey. Additional primates you may observe are the black-and-white colobus, red-tailed monkey, blue monkey, olive baboon, and grey-cheeked mangabey.
Afternoon excursion to the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary
This refuge is an ideal location for avian enthusiasts; proficient birdwatchers can identify up to 50 species during an afternoon stroll in nature. On an auspicious day, one may observe around seven kinds of primates in the treetops of Bigodi. This location is among the premier sites for seeing monkeys in Uganda due to the prevalence of fruit trees. Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary exemplifies a community-based strategy for natural resource management that has significantly benefited local inhabitants.

You will depart early for a one-hour domestic flight from Kasese, located 1.5 hours from Kibale, to Kisoro Airport at 7:30 am. Kisoro Airport is located adjacent to the southern boundary of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. A vehicle will collect you and transport you to the commencement point of the village walking excursion.
The trek would require around 45 minutes from Kisoro Town to Lake Mutanda, traversing village footpaths amidst stunning landscapes of farmed mountain slopes, woods, and human habitation.
Strolling along village paths, you will encounter intriguing residents and acquire profound insights into the daily life of rural inhabitants. Enthusiastic children and adults will welcome us as they cultivate their fields, care for their cattle, and gather water from nearby springs.
The route will lead you to the tranquil shores of Lake Mutanda, where you will encounter fisherman and embark on traditional dugout canoes. You will row northward while listening to narratives from your guide and the shouts of fisherman.
The 2.5-hour canoeing expedition transcends a mere boat ride; the serene tranquilly of the captivating scenery, water, paddlers, and ambient sounds is indispensable. Your private chauffeur will arrive at the briefing location prior to 7:30 am. Gorilla trekking commences at approximately 8:00 AM, regardless of weather conditions and group size.
One may spend the majority of the day in the bush, however significantly more time trekking to observe the mountain gorillas than really observing them. You have approximately one hour to see the dark-furred colossal creatures from a distance of 10 meters. However, at times they approach nearer, necessitating adherence to the jungle’s regulations.
Your time with the great apes will significantly offset the health and fitness concerns posed by jungle hiking. I suggest you engage in exercise for many days before to your arrival.

Return to the enigmatic jungle to encounter the gorillas for a second occasion. Consider participating in the ranger-led habituation program, which affords extended interaction with the gorillas. However, it is essential to have prearranged the permit.
Travel to Lake Mutanda for a traditional dugout paddling excursion amidst captivating vistas of the volcanic lake.
Embark on a forest walk along either the Batwa Forest Trail or the Circular Trail within Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, this time focussing not on gorillas, but on the other ethereal aspects of the rainforest.
