A Complete 9-Day Uganda Culture And Gorilla Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival
Upon your arrival at the airport, our Kabira safaris’ guide will warmly greet you and bring you to your accommodation for the night. Tomorrow, you will go on your tour.

Day 2: Journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
This is the first leg of our trip to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, which the “gentle giants of Bwindi” call home. Along this rewarding trek, we will pass through the picturesque terraced hills of the Kigezi highlands. After a lunch break in Mbarara, you’ll head to your lodge beside the thick jungle for some much-needed relaxation before the next day’s hike.
Also, your naturalist guide can pick you up and transport you to the lodge from either Kihihi Airstrip or Kisoro Airfield, which are both accessible from Entebbe by plane.

Day 3: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
Enjoy the lushness of the dense forest, which is home to many kinds of birds, butterflies, and primates, on today’s cultural and gorilla safari. You will be accompanied by your driving guide to the briefing area to obtain instructions regarding the gorilla trekking trip after an early breakfast.
Following the briefing, a ranger will be on hand to divide you into groups and accompany you into the forest. The park ranger and guide will get you up close and personal with the rare and huge mountain gorillas. Depending on the gorilla troop you’re assigned to and the location of their nesting site the night before, the trekking trip might take anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours.

Day 4: Bwindi Cultural Trail & Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi
Interacting with the communities that live in harmony with nature and do so much to preserve it is the surest way to learn about, value, and love the natural world. We will visit a community that lives in harmony with the gorillas after breakfast and then walk one of their traditional routes. Be open to taking part in these people’s daily lives and learning something new.
Our journey to Lake Bunyonyi will begin in the afternoon following lunch at the village. Beautiful and rich in history, Lake Bunyonyi is a great spot for a day trip.

Day 5: Lake Bunyonyi Island
“Many little birds” is the literal translation of Lake Bunyonyi’s name in the indigenous Rukiga language. We plan to spend the day on the lake exploring the many islands in the area. In one, lepers were buried there, and on another, called “punishment island,” pregnant women were left to die because they had conceived outside of marriage.
Explore a few of the 29 islands in Lake Bunyonyi; partake in a cultural event on one of the islands and share lunch with the locals.

Day 6: Transfer for the Ankore cultural tour
Following your time at Lake Bunyonyi, you will have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the traditional way of life on an Ankore farm. Relax and take in the scenic countryside as you embark on your cultural tour of Uganda.

Day 7: Traditional Homestead Experiences
Gather with the herdsman to milk the long-horned Ankole cows first thing in the morning before the sun comes up. We will go back to our house for breakfast after this milking experience and understanding the tradition surrounding milking cows.
Make your way to the village on foot, stopping at houses and viewpoints along the way. Try some local cuisine and get a feel for the local way of life. The path winds its way across rolling hills that provide sweeping views of the town below.
If this is something you’re interested in, we can visit a nearby school and you may play with the kids. On the other hand, you may accompany the herdsmen to the field so they can feed the cows.

Day 8: Whispers of the wild in Lake Mburo National Park
Our journey to Lake Mburo National Park begins after breakfast, but before we go, we will visit an Igongo cultural museum that traces the kingdom of Ankore’s history. The Ugandan Savannah Park with the smallest size is Lake Mburo.
After checking into the lodge, we’ll go on a boat ride around Lake Mburo, where we can spot zebras, buffalo, hippos, and crocodiles. Embark on a boat ride across the park and marvel at the incredible birdlife. Following the boat ride, you may get up close and personal with the park’s wildlife on a nature walk accompanied by a park ranger.

Day 9: Transfer to Entebbe for departure
The morning game drive is brief, and then we leave Lake Mburo. Before we set out on our journey to Kampala, take one last moment to admire the breathtaking scenery. We will make a pit stop at Equator for lunch and shopping. That evening, either make your way back to Entebbe Airport or spend the night at your hotel, depending on your flight schedule.
