A 10-Day Tanzania Conservation And Community Tour Itinerary

This amazing 10-day Tanzania Conservation And Community safari takes you to the Serengeti, Ngorongoro Conservation Area, and Tarangire National Park—three of Tanzania’s top animal attractions. In these isolated and unspoiled wilderness regions, the emphasis of the trip is on community and conservation.

In the morning, you will be transferred to Oliver’s Camp in Tarangire National Park after spending the night at Tanzania’s biggest coffee farm. As you spend your days on game drives and walking safaris, you will learn all about conservation efforts for lion populations and immerse yourself in the untamed wilds of Africa.

Travelling on to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, you’ll find yourself engulfed in opulence at The Highlands. Among the most well-known African tribes, the Maasai, will be your hosts at the resort, which sits on the edge of a forest that borders the Olmoti volcano. Your final destination is Namiri Plains, a posh tented camp in a region that was once off-limits in an effort to boost cheetah numbers; here, you’re likely to see more predators than anywhere else in East Africa.

A Detailed 10-Day Tanzania Conservation And Community Safari

Day 1: Welcome to Tanzania! | 1 Nights

Arusha Coffee Lodge is the destination of your transfer once you land at Kilimanjaro International Airport. An excellent place to begin a safari in Tanzania, the lodge is located on the country’s biggest coffee plantation. After a long international flight, you will embrace the aromatherapy oasis that is Arusha Coffee Lodge, which is reminiscent of old plantation cottages. Guests may look forward to a swimming pool, a spa, a variety of shops, and vibrant landscaping.

Day 2-3: Lion Conservation in Tarangire | 2 Nights

You will be taken to Oliver’s Camp after a hearty breakfast. In the far southeastern corner of Tarangire National Park lies Oliver’s Camp. The camp provides easy access to a dense concentration of wildlife, overlooking a flood plain of the Minyonyo Pools, a portion of the Tarangire River. Experience the classic safari at Oliver’s Camp, where enthusiastic guides will take you on walking safaris, hot air balloon rides over the plains, and the chance to study leopard tracks along dusty roads.

As part of this community-and conservation-focused program, you will hear about the Tarangire Lion Research Initiative (TLRI). Understanding the dynamics and prospects for lion conservation in the Tarangire-Manyara ecosystem requires data on ecology, demography, and human-lion interactions, which the TRLI diligently gathers. The northern protected regions of Tanzania are home to the country’s second-largest lion population, which is located in this environment.

Day 4-6: Community Interactions & Luxury Tents | 3 Nights

A private car will transport you to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area after breakfast at Oliver’s Camp. Located on the slopes of an extinct volcano (Olmoti), The Highlands offers an exclusive collection of high-tech tents that will serve as your home for the next several days.

Although it feels far away, the camp is actually quite close to Ngorongoro, the starting point of many wildlife drives. A half-day excursion to the soda lake in Empakaai Crater, home to thousands of pink flamingos, or a climb to the peak of Olmoti, both offer breathtaking vistas. Walking the cattle back to the boma at the end of the day is just one more way to immerse yourself in Maasai culture while interacting with the local people.

Day 7-9: Cheetah Conservation in the Serengeti | 3 Nights

Your Tanzanian conservation and community safari will conclude with a road journey to Namiri Plains Camp in the world-famous Serengeti. The Namiri Plains are in a secluded eastern part, an area that was originally sealed off to protect the cheetah population. The camp is nestled in a forest of fever trees, which is prime real estate for big cats.

An evening spent with a researcher from the Serengeti Cheetah Research Project, who tracks the population of fifty to eighty cheetahs in the region—one of the few remaining natural ecosystems where cheetah numbers are viable—is just one of the many exciting things you can do at Namiri Plains Camp.

This is wild Africa, where you may observe and learn about cheetahs in the Serengeti, as well as lions, herds of wildebeest, and countless other animals on game drives or even in the privacy of your own luxury hotel.

Day 10: Farewell Africa

Your safari journey will conclude after a sumptuous breakfast as you are charter flown to Kilimanjaro International Airport. For a perfect tropical island ending, speak with one of our Africa Safari Experts about adding a few nights to Zanzibar.
