Gorilla Trekking in Uganda and Rwanda (Trekking Gorillas Twice)

Gorilla Trekking in Uganda and Rwanda (Trekking Gorillas Twice) is intended for those who want to undertake gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park – Uganda, and Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda. Observing and comparing two different gorilla families allows one to examine and compare group behaviors/dynamics.

Gorilla Trekking in Rwanda

There are no two gorilla groups that are the same. Some have a greater number of silverbacks, females, and individuals overall. You could discover a mother with twins in one group and merely young juveniles in another. Rwanda’s habitat is hilly, and gorillas mostly eat in the bamboo forest. Bwindi National Park, on the other hand, is largely tropical rainforest. Let’s go through the two national parks in further depth, starting with Bwindi.

Day by day Itinerary: Gorilla Trekking in Uganda and Rwanda

Day 1: Departure from Kigali, then transportation to Bwindi National Park

Our Guide will pick you up from your Kigali hotel or airport and take you on a half-day tour of the city. You will visit a souvenir shop, the old presidential palace, the genocide memorial center, and the major city market as part of the tour. Following the city tour, you will embark on a four-hour trip through Rwanda’s breathtaking countryside to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park (green rolling hills and plantations). After passing through immigration, you will proceed into Uganda and then to your lodge in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. Rest and prepare for the next day’s gorilla trekking.

Overnight at the preferred accommodation facility.

Day 2: Mountain Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi, Uganda, and (Cultural Tour) Visit the Batwa Pygmies

GORILLA Trekking Uganda 🦍

Get up early to eat breakfast and then proceed to the park headquarters for a briefing. At 7:00 a.m., the head Guide does a briefing on how to handle yourself while among the gorillas or what to carry with you when gorilla tracking. You’ll be allocated a gorilla group and given the option of hiring porters. The distribution of gorilla groups is determined by your overall fitness. Some gorilla populations go further into the bush, necessitating greater hiking hours and hence more problems. You should now travel to the jungle to seek the primates after you’ve identified your gorilla group. Bring a nice camera with you to capture shots of yourself with the group.

After an hour with the mountain gorillas, return to the starting location to meet our guide who will transport you back to the resort for lunch and rest. In the late afternoon, you will be escorted to the Batwa pygmy village, which is located close to the park. The Batwa were the original occupants of the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, but they were evacuated outside the park to make place for gorilla conservation initiatives. Although the government effort benefitted gorillas and other park creatures, it did not benefit the Batwa. The Batwa have lived as hunters and gatherers for thousands of years, keeping a safe distance from tribal groupings beyond the woodlands. They must now cope with them and understand their customs. Because they cannot compete with the more aggressive tribes, the Batwa have been sidelined and the majority of them live in poverty. You will learn a lot about their culture while being entertained by traditional dance ensembles while staying with the Batwa.

Day 3: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda, and Visit the Gorilla Guardians Village

After your first meeting with the primates yesterday, you should wake up at your leisure and eat breakfast while we wait for our driver. Check out and return to the Volcanoes National Park for 4 Days of double Gorilla Trekking in Uganda and Rwanda. When you arrive at the resort, you will have lunch.

After lunch, you can have a snooze at the lodge while waiting for the driver to take you to the Gorilla Guardians Village. Formerly known as the Iby’iwacu Cultural Village, the Centre began as a site where former poachers sold souvenirs to tourists. The government renovated the property, making it one of the top cultural institutions in East Africa. You will spend the day seeing traditional dance performances or dressing up in traditional robes for pictures.

Day 4: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda, and Departure

Mountain Gorilla Trekking in Rwanda (Unforgettable)

At 7:00 a.m., get up early and travel to Volcanoes National Park for a briefing on gorilla trekking. The briefing, as in Bwindi, includes themes such as mountain gorillas, the history of the park, the gorilla groups, what to pack, and what to anticipate. The Park Rangers/Guides will lead you into the forest after the briefing. Expect to walk through a dense bamboo jungle teeming with fascinating species. After a short walk, you will be rewarded with one hour of gorilla viewing. Follow your Guide’s advice and remain cool even if one of the gorillas approaches you. After an hour of viewing the gorillas, you will return to the starting site for lunch. The vehicle will drop you off at your hotel or the Kigali airport for your departure.
