This small camp of six tents has been thoughtfully placed to provide a private and unique experience, just beyond the high-water line, under the shade of miombo forests. Set out on foot to discover the dry seasonal floodplains and gain a deeper understanding of the Usangu Wetlands, or take a wildlife drive down the river and through the forest in pursuit of big cats, elephant, giraffe, sable and roan antelope. In the evenings, you can watch the park’s stunning sunsets as you cook a healthy and flavourful dinner over the open fire.

Come to Usangu Expedition Camp and stay in one of our six beautifully sited guest tents, where you can relax in tranquillity while taking in breathtaking views of the wetlands. In between safari adventures, you may repose in comfort on the roomy decks and shaded verandas. Hot water showers and en suite facilities are standard in our tents. The original safari atmosphere is revived with the open-fire cooking and starry dining experiences, which embody the camp’s inquisitive spirit. With our spare, modern decor, you can fully immerse yourself in nature, making for an experience you won’t soon forget.

Situated in the very center of this one-of-a-kind ecosystem, our surroundings include the verdant Ihefu Swamp, verdant grasslands, and wide floodplains. The natural beauty of the location is enhanced by the verdant miombo woodlands that are close by. The Usangu Wetlands provide a haven for a diverse array of animals and are an integral part of the Ruaha-Rungwa ecosystem. Amazing animals abound, from sable and magnificent roan antelope to the elusive wild dog. To the delight of birdwatchers, hundreds of kinds of birds, both migratory and resident, will be present. Concurrently, amphibian enthusiasts have a chance to discover a brand-new species.

June – September

June is the beginning of the dry season and the end of the long rains. Following rains, the park becomes verdant and verdant, providing great opportunities for boat safaris and birdwatching. During the dry season, when the floodplains and marshes shrink, strolling becomes a lovely pastime. In addition, the perennial water source creates an ideal setting for game viewing because animals is naturally drawn to it.
October – January

Optimal wildlife viewing and relaxing strolls are most likely around October, when the dry season is at its peak. It is still feasible to go on boat safaris and fish even though the water levels are very low. When the weather is dry, it’s the best time to go wandering and see animals. Midway through the month November sees the return of afternoon thunderstorms, which cool things down and start to turn Usangu back into a swamp. At the tail end of November, the camp closes for the rainy season due to the difficult conditions brought on by the impending rains; it reopens in June.
