7-Day Serengeti Photo Safari | Great Migration Lamai Area
Join us on a 7-Day Serengeti Photo Safari across the Lamai section of the Serengeti, brought to you by Kabira Safaris Africa. Located in the northern part of the Serengeti National Park—a World Heritage Site—the secluded Lamai region provides breathtaking landscapes and great chances to capture animals.
Our camp is conveniently located near river crossings, making it an ideal vantage point from which to capture the spectacular Great Migration as herds of wildebeest make the perilous journey over the Mara River.
This will be the central focus of our 7-Day Serengeti Photo Safari. Nature lovers and photographers alike will be able to relive a “Out of Africa” moment on this Serengeti photo safari, which promises to be filled with breathtaking scenery and exciting adventures.
A Detailed 7-Day Serengeti Photo Safari
Day 1: Arrival in Arusha and transfer to accommodation
After you touch down at Kilimanjaro International Airport this morning, a representative will receive you and take you to your overnight accommodations in Arusha. Here you will meet the rest of the group as well as your host and guide for the Kabira Safari. Over dinner, you will go over all the details of the safari.
Day 2: Scheduled flight from Arusha Airport to Lamai
Our scheduled flight to the northern Serengeti departs today. It seems probable that our flight path will lead us over the crater highlands and then across the expansive Serengeti, skirting the Mara River on our way to Lamai Airstrip, situated north of the river. Camping is an hour away, and there’s a good possibility we’ll see some wildlife on the way. Lunch is on the house, and then we’ll head out for an afternoon game drive.
Days 3 to 6: Lamai area, Northern Serengeti
Serengeti National Park’s Lamai region is one of its best-kept secrets. Situated far north of the Serengeti, it is fairly isolated and, in all likelihood, can only be reached by plane. This idyllic spot is bordered on two sides by the Isuria Escarpment: one on the west and the Kenyan border on the north. The so-called “river crossings” will play a significant role in this Tanzania photo tour. These occur when large groups of wildebeest (and occasionally zebra) ford the Mara River, usually in a very dramatic way. The herds rummage along the riverbank before making a larger crossing, sending billowing clouds of dust into the sky as the animals stomp through the brown Mara River. Wildebeests’ braying and grunting often accompanies the process, making it an audible and visual spectacle with great photo opportunities! Huge Nile Crocodiles pounce on unsuspecting prey as they slither through the murky waterways; if we’re lucky, we could even get to see the excitement of a reptile hunt. At night, when the sounds of the African night float through the forest around camp, the camp fire is the ideal spot to gather with fellow guests, have a cold drink, and talk about the exploits of the day.
Day 7: Scheduled flight Lamai to Kilimanjaro International Airport and depart
This 7-Day Serengeti Photo Safari unfortunately comes to a close today as we board a planned flight from Lamai to Kilimanjaro International Airport.
