A Detailed 10-Day Kenya Flying Safari
Day 1: Into Southern Kenya: Amboseli & Chyulu Hills
We will meet you at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport
Fly to Amboseli or Chyulu Hills
Overnight Ol Tukai Lodge, Campi Ya Kanzi or Ol Donyo Lodge
Upon your arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi, a driver from Kabira Safaris Africa will be waiting to take you to Wilson Airport, the main domestic airport, in a private vehicle. It will take about 55 minutes to fly to Amboseli or the Chyulu Hills from this location.
Among the most well-known East African settings for photographing elephants, the grasslands of Amboseli National Park are situated beneath the renowned Mount Kilimanjaro. Amboseli National Park in southern Kenya is a popular tourist destination due to its abundance of wildlife, including rare birds and mammals. One of the least developed national parks in Kenya is the Chyulu Hills, located between Tsavo West and Amboseli. In this one-of-a-kind ecosystem, the majestic Mount Kilimanjaro stands tall against a background of expansive grasslands, wooded rolling slopes, and rough volcanic craters.
Return to camp for lunch and some down time in your tent; a lodge guide will be waiting for you at the airstrip to take you on a wildlife drive. Go on your first game drive of the day in the middle of the afternoon and take in the breathtaking scenery.
Day 2 – 3: Explore the Wild and Wonderful
Enjoy safari adventures!
Overnight at Ol Tukai Lodge, Campi Ya Kanzi or Ol Donyo Lodge
Take part in exciting safari activities in the morning and afternoon while you explore the stunning Amboseli and Chyulu Hills wilderness. Extinct lava tube exploration (Chyulu Hills), guided bush walks, nocturnal wildlife drives, Maasai community visits, and fantastic bird watching are among of the activities available. Wildlife enthusiasts will be in heaven on this safari, which offers up-close encounters with giraffe, reedbuck, leopard, bush pig, eland, and buffalo.
Day 4: Savannah Safari: Savour a Scenic Journey
Fly to Maasai Mara
Overnight at Tipilikwani Mara, Entim Mara or Bateleur Camp
Following your last camp meal this morning, you will be transported to the airstrip in preparation for your return flight to Nairobi. From there, you will connect with your subsequent aircraft to the Maasai Mara.
A camp guide will be waiting for you at the airstrip. They will then take you on a game drive back to camp, giving you a great overview of the expansive savannah plains while pausing to admire any animals you see. Get comfortable in your room, have a hearty lunch, and then take some time to unwind and get to know your new home. Set off on a game drive in pursuit of majestic cats and other fascinating wildlife after enjoying some afternoon tea and tasty cake.
Day 5 – 6: Discover Big Cats and More in the Maasai Mara
Game drives and more captivating big cat wildlife
Overnight at Tipilikwani Mara, Entim Mara or Bateleur Camp
Take advantage of your camp’s morning and afternoon activities while also exploring the Maasai Mara with a knowledgeable guide. There is a wide variety of species in the region, including lions, leopards, cheetahs, buffalo, elephants, and many more. Game drives, walking safaris (at Bateleur Camp), and cultural trips to nearby Maasai villages are what you can do on a safari.
Day 7 – 9: Venture through majestic Samburu
Flight to Kalama or Loisaba Airstrip
Overnight at Elephant Bedroom Camp, Soroi Larsens or Suyian Lodge
Elephant Bedroom Camp and Soroi Larsens, two stops along the Ewaso Nyiro River that provide breathtaking views of the Samburu scenery and its inhabitants, are accessible to participants on the Comfort and Classic circuits from Kalama Airstrip. Elephant Bedroom Camp has just fourteen tents, all of which are furnished with contemporary conveniences and decorated with colourful African elements, creating an atmosphere that is equal parts rustic and luxurious. In addition to an underground photographic hide for exceptional wildlife shooting, the boutique Soroi Larsens provides personalised attention and an air of luxury.
Visit the Samburu people and engage in genuine conversation with them to learn about their culture, history, and traditions. Partake in wilderness walks, bird watching, and wildlife drives.
The Suyian Conservancy is home to the five-star Suyian Lodge, where you will spend your night on the Reserve circuit. The protected area is a living example of conservation, housing over a hundred different species of mammals via the use of regenerative land methods and strong community collaborations. Be on the out for rare and interesting animals, like the reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra, African wild dogs, and black (melanistic) leopards. Discover the preserve on foot, on horseback, or with the herders of camels. Visits to local communities foster stronger bonds and game drives open up new vistas.
Day 10: Departure
Transfer to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport via Wilson Airport
Gather your belongings and meet your guide for a brief game drive back to the airstrip after you’ve enjoyed your last breakfast in the bush. To get to Wilson Airport in Nairobi, you’ll take a small plane. If you arrive with Kabira Safaris Africa, a vehicle will be waiting to take you to the international airport, which is about an hour away (depending on traffic)—where you may check in for your flight home.
