Detailed Okavango Delta Fly-in Itinerary

Day 1: Join Kasane or Maun, fly to Okavango Delta

This morning you will fly from either Kasane or Maun across a slice of the Kalahari Desert to the Okavango Delta. Attention – Return trips in scenic light aircraft The trip cost does not include Kasane or Maun / Delta. Please enquire about the charges, as they are subject to change and availability. A vehicle shuttle from your Victoria Falls accommodation to Botswana’s Kasane airport can be arranged (for an extra fee) if you’re staying at Victoria Falls. As you soar over this breathtaking landscape in a little plane—typically a Cessna with six seats—you’ll get a great sense of scale. You will be amazed by the breathtaking aerial view of this unparalleled wilderness and eager to explore it on foot afterward! Flight times to the Delta from Kasane are approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes, and from Maun it is about 25 minutes. There is a five-minute boat ride (included) to Moremi Crossing, or you can just walk to Gunns Camp from the Moremi Crossing airstrip. Both lodges are beautifully furnished and situated along the river and its tributaries, and they both feature outdoor dining areas with breathtaking views of the river and its wildlife, such as birds, hippos, and elephants. For the next several nights, you’ll be staying in spacious tented camps, each of which is furnished with exquisite items and has an attached bathroom as well as an outdoor shower. It will be an unforgettable experience to go to sleep at night to the melodies of the Delta. There is a 24-hour open bar, delicious cuisine, and a complete lack of technology at these camps, so you can really disconnect and reconnect with nature. Included in the price are most drinks and meals (with the exception of expensive imported wines, champagnes, and spirits). After 3 o’clock in the afternoon, we’ll set sail on a little motorised boat to explore the outer waterways for your first scheduled activity (all scheduled activities are included). You may encounter a wide variety of wildlife, including elephants, buffalo, crocodiles, and hippos, among many others. With a sundowner drink and some nibbles on board, you can find the perfect spot to witness the world-famous Okavango sunset. All night long: Moremi Crossing or something similar.

Day 2: Explore Okavango Delta

The early morning may be the optimal time for exploring the Okavango Delta. The atmosphere is more temperate and the fauna more lively, thus you will be adequately compensated for awakening early! Our planned morning activity involves a mokoro, a serene means of navigating the narrow rivers that lead to the islands where we may embark on a walking safari. Each mokoro is overseen by a naturalist guide who, on land, elucidates the wildlife by providing intriguing facts about the species of mammals, birds, and reptiles you will see. We return to camp for brunch and a nap, followed by additional wildlife observation as we approach the early evening. The sunset over the Okavango is an indelible experience; the presence of clouds enhances the visual composition, making it imperative to keep your camera readily accessible. Overnight at Moremi Crossing or a comparable location.
