Kenya And Victoria Falls: How to Combine A Kenya Safari With Victoria Falls Tour.
A trip combining a Kenya safari with Victoria Falls is a popular and diverse African adventure, offering iconic wildlife viewing in Kenya’s Masai Mara and Amboseli, followed by the spectacular “Smoke That Thunders” waterfall on the Zambezi River.
You can have a memorable, luxury safari in Africa that takes you to three of the continent’s most exciting places if you plan ahead and book in advance. This 9-day Kenya And Victoria Falls itinerary is perfect for people who are going for the first time or who don’t have a lot of money to spend.
Your trip to Africa starts in Kenya, a lovely country with rolling savannah, lots of predators, fiery red sunsets, and friendly Masai guides and rangers. Spend the night in Nairobi before heading to the beautiful Masai Mara National Reserve.
You fly to Zambia after five days of looking for elephants, lions, zebras, cheetahs, and many other animals. There, you may visit the country’s most famous natural attraction, Victoria Falls. There are a lot of fun things to do around the world’s biggest waterfall, such taking a famous sunset boat on the Zambezi River.
Expert Opinion
A great way to see Victoria Falls and go on a big 5 safari. Lion Porini has a low carbon footprint and provides more than just game drives. You may go on foot with the Masai to explore the area in depth and enjoy night game drives in a part of the Mara that isn’t crowded. Chundukwa at the Falls is a great place to stay right on the river, close to the Falls, and the best way to relax after a safari.
A Complete 9 Day Kenya And Victoria Falls Itinerary
Days 1-2: Jambo Kenya!
You can quickly find yourself repeating “jambo” to everyone you encounter without even thinking about it as the spirit of Kenya takes over. When you get to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, someone will meet you and take you quickly to the Four Points by Sheraton Nairobi Airport Hotel. The best part? You won’t have to drive far, so you’ll be settled into your accommodation and ready to have a nice hot shower in no time.
After you are settled in, you may go to the restaurant for a tasty supper or relax by the pool and take in the sights and sounds of the new city from a lounger. If you get there at the right time, you might even be able to book a half-day tour to see some of Nairobi’s sights.
Days 2-5: Meet the Maasai | 3 Nights
You can’t go on a safari in Kenya without spending time in the Masai Mara, which is where the Maasai tribe has lived for a long time. These red-robed guides will be your guests for the next three nights at Porini Lion Camp, a simple tented camp in the Masai Mara National Reserve. It is at a great spot on the Ntiakatiak River in the Olare Motorogi Conservancy.
You will spend your time here on morning and afternoon game drives, and you will undoubtedly see elephants! The Mara is one of the best places in the world to see animals because its wide-open plains make it easy to find and see them. For example, you might see a pride of lions resting in the shade to your right, a herd of elephants quietly walking towards a waterhole to your left, and a bunch of antelope like Thomson’s gazelle, topi, hartebeest, and impala all around you. Your guides will be able to show you lucky things like a leopard guarding her kill in a tree or an ostrich conducting a complicated dance to get the chance to mate.
Guides in conservancies have more freedom than those in the national reserve. You might be lucky enough to go off-road to get closer to intriguing animals or go on a night game drive, which is a whole new experience that opens up a whole other environment, all beneath the soft cape of the Milky Way.
Days 5-6: A Night to Recharge | 1 Nights
You will spend the night in the Eka Hotel in Nairobi, which is a modern place that has everything you need to rest up for the next phase of your trip. After a full night’s sleep, check your email, edit your photos and repack your baggage so you’re ready to land in Zambia.
Days 6-9: The Miracle of Victoria Falls | 3 Nights
Say goodbye to Kenya as you travel back to Jomo Kenyatta this morning. From there, you will go to Zambia and the great Victoria Falls. Your pilot might even point out the huge spray of Mosi-oa-Tunya, the Falls’ traditional name, as you land if the weather is right. You will be taken to Chundukwa River Lodge, where you will stay for three nights, once you get off the plane at Harry Mwanga Nkumbula International Airport in Livingstone. The airport is named after Dr. David Livingstone, the first European to observe the Falls.
Chundukwa is in the perfect spot to give you the best of both worlds. It’s on the banks of the Zambezi River, not far from the tranquil town of Livingstone. You can spend one day exploring the busy Falls and the markets around them, and then go back to the peace of the lodge. You can get your heart beating by going micro lighting over the Falls, swinging or jumping from the bridge, swimming in Devil’s Pool (if the water levels are right), or white-water rafting on high-grade rapids.
You can ride a horse, go birdwatching with binoculars, or go on a nature walk to stretch your legs at Chundukwa. A sunset sail on the Zambezi River will definitely be one of the best things to do. This is another one of those unforgettable African experiences… the warm air, the hippos snorting, families of elephants leading their babies across the water, and the last rays of the sun’s light.
