Commencing in Leroo La Tau along the Boteti River, you will see exceptional wildlife observation as animals approach for hydration, alongside the opportunity to investigate the peripheries of the Makgadikgadi Pans. Your next destination is the wildlife-abundant Okavango Delta for mokoro and walking safaris on a private concession, culminating at Chobe National Park with outstanding game observation and river cruises along the Chobe River.
Day 1-2: Explore the Scenic Makgadikgadi | 2 Nights
Upon arriving at Maun Airport, you will be greeted and aided in the check-in procedure for your small aircraft trip to your initial destination, Leroo La Tau. Leroo La Tau, situated adjacent to Botswana’s Boteti River and framed by Makgadikgadi Pans National Park, offers an enthralling wildlife experience. The area is recognised for the seasonal congregation of zebras and wildebeests during migration from November to May, along with year-round observations of predators.
You will spend two nights here, and on your full day, you will have the chance to participate in a guided game drive in the National Park. Lunch will be either in the reserve or at camp, contingent upon the day. Allocate time post-lunch to unwind, refresh in the pool, and enjoy a little nap prior to high tea and subsequent events. Your day concludes with a wonderful sundowner as the sun descends. Evenings at the camp include fireside narratives and sociable dinners. Following a fulfilling day, retreat to your cosy tent, accompanied by the nocturnal sounds of the Kalahari.
Day 3-4: A Classic Okavango Safari | 2 Nights
Following a final morning at Leroo La Tau and breakfast with a view of the Boteti River, proceed to the runway for your subsequent flight to the waterways of the Okavango Delta. Over the next two nights, you will reside at Camp Okavango, a facility that has been enchanting visitors for numerous years.
The camp is situated on the secluded Nxaragha Island within the Okavango Delta, sometimes referred to as Africa’s ‘Garden of Eden.’ The site’s position along a perennial waterway in the delta provides a year-round aquatic wilderness experience, allowing exploration via mokoro (fibreglass canoes inspired by ancient dugouts) or motorboat, contingent upon water levels.
The primary lodge includes a comfortable lounge for socialising or relaxation, a curio shop for purchasing souvenirs, a wildlife reference library to familiarise oneself with the local fauna and flora, a swimming pool for rejuvenation and a fully stocked bar for refreshments. Regardless of your chosen location for relaxation, you will consistently enjoy sweeping vistas of the delta.
Day 5-6: Discover the Elephant Herds of Chobe | 2 Nights
Following an exquisite breakfast, you will embark on another aerial journey, transporting you from the verdant rivers of the Okavango to the wildlife-abundant Chobe region. Upon arrival at Kasane Airport, you will be greeted for your transfer to Chobe Game Lodge, situated along the banks of the Chobe River in Botswana’s esteemed Chobe National Park.
Chobe features Africa’s biggest singular concentration of elephants, drawing herds that increase over the lush floodplains, particularly during the dry season from June to October. This rich habitat serves not just as a sanctuary for elephants but also as a premier location for observing lions, buffalo, hippos, and crocodiles. Moreover, Chobe’s birdwatching is considered one of the premier experiences in Southern Africa, showcasing a rich array of bird species.
The lodge’s riverside location allows for aquatic activities throughout your two-night stay. Small motorboats offer a close-up perspective of animals, whilst a relaxed sunset cruise on a larger riverboat epitomises a quintessential Chobe experience. Particularly during the rainy season, when the river expands and appears boundless. Game drives within the park are conducted using open-top electric game viewers, ensuring little disruption to wildlife and a diminished carbon footprint.
Day 7: Your Botswana Adventure Comes to an End
