A Detailed 14-Day Namibia Hiking Itinerary

Day 1: Windhoek – Waterberg Area

No later than 9am, you must arrive at Windhoek International Airport. Upon arrival at the airport, your guide will warmly meet you with a smile. Following a quick tour briefing, your hiking trip of Namibia may commence. You depart from Windhoek and head north, stopping in the little town of Okahandja en route. Today, you will be visiting the picturesque Waterberg Guest Farm. You and your guide will go on your first walk after a little period of relaxation. You ascend Small Waterberg Mountain by a natural walk that winds through the guest farm. The Waterberg Plateau is front and center here, and it’s breathtaking. A tasty dinner is waiting for you when the sun goes down.

Day 2: Waterberg Area – Etosha National Park

Your guide will take you on a leisurely walk around the neighbouring Omumborombonga Forest after breakfast. As the world’s heaviest wood, the Omumborombonga tree is known as leadwood in English. Local Herero legend has it that the first humans emerged from the first Omumborombonga tree. Hiking through this beautiful forest will give you a chance to recharge before continuing on to Etosha National Park, the safari highlight of your hiking vacation across Namibia. There is a solid reason why the Etosha is the most well-known national park in Namibia. Embark on a game drive in the afternoon for a chance to see some of the local wildlife. Your game drive will culminate with a two-night stay at the Etosha Safari Camp, which is located outside of Etosha National Park.

Day 3: Etosha National Park

If you are an early riser, you will likely be rewarded with a magnificent dawn at Etosha National Park. You should begin your game drive as early as possible because the animals are most active in the cold morning hours. After that, you should head to the Vingerklip Lodge, where you will be staying for the next two nights. Before you embark on a picturesque afternoon hike, feel free to relax by the pool after a small meal (optional). Ascending the Eagles Nest Plateau, you and your guide will eventually reach the Vingerklip, a rock formation that looks like a finger pointing upwards. While hiking here, you may see lesser antelope species, zebras, kudus, and giraffes. Stunning views of the Ugab Valley spread out below you await you at the top of the short climb to Vingerklip. After a while, you find a way back to the lodge via a different route, and then you may relax for the rest of the afternoon. In the evening, you will be treated to a delectable dinner before retiring to your chalet for another peaceful night.

Day 5: Ugab Valley

Another fantastic walk awaits you today. A walk to the southern terrace begins at your lodge and continues around it. Several scenic overlooks of the Ugab Valley will be yours to enjoy as you go along this route. The walk culminates with a beautiful picnic overlooking the Eagles Nest Plateau. The reddish granite rock that stands atop Brandberg is so named because of the way it reflects the setting sun. The rock art that can be found all over the mountain range is what makes it famous. Returning to Uis, where a hearty meal is waiting for you, is the next step. Your next stop, the rustic Omandumba Bush Camp, will be located on the brink of the formidable Erongo Mountains, where you’ll spend the next two nights. Another walk, giving you a chance to get some fresh air and see the area, is available to you in the afternoon. The ideal way to round off a day is with a sunset drive to a breathtaking vista. Perched on a hilltop, you can sip a cool drink and take in the breathtaking sunset that Namibia is known for. A tasty supper will be ready for you when you return to camp.

Day 8: Erongo Mountains

You have another thrilling day ahead of you. Hiking through the majestic granite rock formations of the Erongo Mountains begins after breakfast and a little drive. Beautiful scenery that was formerly home to the ancient San people. Hidden and remarkably well-preserved rock art from these long-gone hunter-gatherers will be revealed to you by your guide. You will be rewarded with a warm meal when you return to camp at the end of the journey. Before you visit the nearby Living Museum of the Ju/’Hoansi-San/Bushmen, you may take some time to rest. Along a bushwalk with a San guide, you can discover medicinal plants, hear about traditional hunting techniques, and gain insight into San religious beliefs. The second night at the Omandumba Bush Camp marks the end of another thrilling day in Namibia.

Day 9: Erongo Mountains – Swakopmund

Wake up and enjoy a leisurely morning before setting out on your journey. The majestic Spitzkoppe Mountains will soon be visible in the horizon, dominating the scenery. Travelling down the winding roads of Namibia, you’ll stop for a quick picture op at the Spitzkoppe Bridge before continuing forward to the Atlantic Ocean and its refreshing air. Along this beach, numerous ships have run aground, and you may see their remains as you make your way along. The picturesque coastal town of Swakopmund is your destination for the day. Before you go to your lodging, the Swakopmund Guesthouse, your guide will show you about town to some of the top sights. You are free to do as you like for the remainder of the afternoon. Swakopmund has a wide selection of restaurants for dinner, and if you choose one, your guide may recommend the best ones.

Day 10: Swakopmund – Moon Landscape – Swakopmund

Start your day off well with a hearty breakfast as you get ready to explore the Moon Landscape on an unforgettable walk. Some of the most breathtaking hiking options may be found in this otherworldly location. The area appears lonely and unpopulated when seen from a distance. Hiking with a knowledgeable guide, though, will allow you to see flora and fauna that have adapted to the extreme weather conditions. When it comes to flora, the Welwitschia mirabilis is unrivalled in fame. This intriguing plant can grow to be over a thousand years old and can be found all across the terrain. Day 11: Swakopmund – Namib Desert

Get back on the road inland now that we’ve left the seaside. As you traverse the Kuiseb and Gaub passes, you’ll come across desiccated riverbeds. When it rains really hard, the rivers may temporarily overflow their banks, creating a breathtaking spectacle. You will spend the night at the Elegant Desert Lodge after getting back on the road and continuing into the Namib-Naukluft region. Day 12: Namib Desert – Namib-Naukluft

This morning, you should get up before the sun comes up. The Namib-Naukluft Park entrance is conveniently located just a short drive away, which is why. Away from the madding crowds, your guide will lead you to a solitary dune where you can take in the breathtaking sunrise over the world’s oldest desert. After enjoying a picnic breakfast, you continue your journey into the desert. You will begin your walk with your guide once you see Sossusvlei. Day 13: Namib-Naukluft

Getting up early in the morning should now be very natural for you. You get on an open 4×4 vehicle after breakfast and begin driving up the adjacent mountain plateau. You may expect stunning landscapes throughout the two-hour drive. The journey may even provide you with sightings of mountain zebras, kudu, or oryx. As soon as you reach the peak of the mountain, your walk into the Quiver Tree Gorge will begin. You will be treated to breathtaking sights and surroundings on this lovely walk. Bear in mind that your guide will be able to decipher any animal trails you come across. Along the way, you’ll pass across pools of pristine water, perfect for a refreshing dip whenever the mood strikes you. A picnic lunch will be enjoyed in the gorge, beneath the shade of a tree. Day 14: Namib-Naukluft – Windhoek

Your return to Windhoek commences after a leisurely breakfast. Whether you’re interested in stopping for lunch or coffee along the road, your guide has an insider recommendation for you. You should expect to reach the nation’s capital between 1 and 2 in the afternoon after passing via the sleepy little town of Rehoboth. After that, farewell is in order.
