10-Day Serengeti Great Migration Safari Tanzania
A Private 10-Day Serengeti Great Migration Safari Tanzania. A 10-day Serengeti Wildebeest Migration safari offers a comprehensive tour of Tanzania’s northern circuit, focusing on the annual, dramatic river crossings and predator action. Highlights include Tarangire, Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro Crater, and 3–4 days in the North Serengeti (July–Oct) or Southern Serengeti (Jan–March) for prime migration tracking.
The Serengeti Great Migration Safari is a breathtaking natural spectacle that takes place over the course of ten days. Witness over two million wildebeests, zebras, and antelope as they bravely traverse the 450-mile plain, oblivious to the dangers posed by predators like lions and cheetahs. As the herbivores make their way from Serengeti National Park into Masai Mara Game Reserve, behold the massive crocodiles that inhabit the Mara River.
On their way to Kenya’s Masai Mara Game Reserve, wildebeests cross the Mara River in August and head north, stopping at the Lobo area (just north of Central Serengeti National Park) and the Wagakuria area (far northern Serengeti National Park along the Mara River).

A Detailed 10-Day Serengeti Great Migration Safari Tanzania
Day 1 – Arrival – Arusha
Kilimanjaro International Airport welcomes you upon arrival. You will be met by our guide, who will then arrange for your transfer to your accommodation.
Inclusion Meals: Dinner
Accommodation: The Mount Meru Hotel
Day 2 – Serengeti National Park (North)
Your flight to Serengeti North will take off at 7 in the morning and land at 10 in the morning, so you’ll have plenty of time to explore the Northern Mara on a game drive after breakfast. The yearly migration of more than 1.5 million wildebeest and hundreds of thousands of zebras is a frenzy of territorial conquests and mating that happens from July to October in the Serengeti, among other amazing species and breathtaking scenery. As these creatures plunge into waters teeming with crocodiles, you can see a real-life example of survival of the fittest in action. Before starting their annual 1,000 km (600 mile) migration anew, wildebeests give birth to more than 8,000 calves per day.

Accommodation: Acacia Migration Camp
Day 3 – Serengeti North (Kogatende)
We will go on a game drive to see the huge migration in Serengeti North after breakfast. As the huge herd begins to congregate in the area in August, river crossings at Kogatende begin. You can almost guarantee a river crossing every day from August to October, making that time ideal for game viewing. The herds don’t do much more than cross the river multiple times a day in response to the rain and the new grass that follows.
The price of a hot air balloon ride for one person is $546 (not included in the total fee mentioned above).
Inclusion Meals: B,L,D
Accommodation: Acacia Migration Camp
Day 4 – Serengeti North (Kogatende)
We will go on a full-day wildlife drive to see the huge migration in the Mara area after breakfast. There is an abundance of native species in the Wagakuria region. Importantly, the Mara River provides a fantastic opportunity to witness the herds making the northward crossing one day and the southward crossing the following day. Keep in mind that witnessing a crossover is often a question of pure chance and might be exceedingly challenging. A herd is spotted near the river; it takes them a few days to decide to cross. Stunning kopjes, forests, riverine vegetation, and vast plains characterise this location, which is reminiscent of Kenya’s Masai Mara Game Reserve.

Accommodation: Acacia Migration Camp
Day 5 – Serengeti National Park (Central Seronera)
Following breakfast at the camp, we will embark on a journey to Serengeti central, a world heritage site and the oldest and most visited national park in Tanzania. Approximately six million hooves stomp the wide grasslands of the Serengeti every year as wildebeest, zebra, and 300,000 Thomson’s gazelle set out on their journey for new feed. Thousands of eland, topi, kongoni, impala, and Grant’s gazelles, as well as smaller groups of elephants and giraffes, make the Serengeti a great African game-viewing destination even when the migration isn’t happening.

Accommodation: Serengeti Acacia Tented Camp
Day 6 – Serengeti Central (Central Seronera)
We have a full day of game driving planned in Central Serengeti after breakfast. In addition to the big cats, the Serengeti is inhabited by showy agama lizards and rock hyraxes, which scuttle about on the park’s solitary granite koppies. A large variety of dung beetles were discovered, and over 500 bird species have been documented, spanning from the enormous ostrich and strange secretary bird found in the broad grasslands to the graceful black eagles that glide above the Lobo Hills.

Day 7 – Serengeti Central (Cental Seronera)
Here we are on yet another full-day game drive in Serengeti National Park, famous for its abundant native wildlife and, in particular, the so-called “big five”—so called because they are the five most sought-after game animals by hunters:
Lion: the Serengeti is believed to hold the largest population of lions in Africa due in part to the abundance of prey species. More than 3,000 lions live in this ecosystem.
African Leopard: these reclusive predators are commonly seen in the Seronera region but are present throughout the national park with the population of around 1,000.
African Elephant: the herds are recovering from population lows in the 1980s caused by poaching and are largely located in the northern regions of the park.
African Buffalo: considered by many to be the most dangerous of the big five, reportedly causing the most hunter deaths, with wounded animals reported to ambush and attack pursuers.
Rhinoceros: this may refer to either black or white rhinoceros. Among big five game hunters, the black rhinoceros is preferred, although it is now critically endangered.

Accommodation: Serengeti Acacia Tented Camp
Day 8 – Ngorongoro Crater Tour
Ngorongoro, located inside the Crater, will be the destination of our early morning wildlife drive following breakfast. Located on the Rift Valley’s eastern arm, the vast Ngorongoro Conservation Area (NCA) surrounds the renowned Ngorongoro Crater. The purpose of creating Ngorongoro was to protect the park’s flora, fauna, and other natural assets. Additionally, it encourages tourism while protecting the interests of indigenous communities.
Inclusion Meals: B,L,D
Accommodation: Serian Tarangire Camp
Day 9 – Tarangire National Park
We will spend the entire day game driving in Tarangire National Park, which is off the beaten path, today. The tranquil Tarangire National Park in northern Tanzania is a popular destination for birding safaris and the annual elephant migration.
Inclusion Meals: B,L,D
Accommodation: Serian Tarangire Camp
Day 10 – Back to Arusha
We will return to Arusha after breakfast, stopping at a retail market along route. We will then arrange for a transfer to take you to Kilimanjaro International Airport in time for your next journey.
