Rwanda is offering air balloon Rides at Akagera Park. Following the debut of Rwanda’s first air balloon adventure, tourists visiting Akagera National Park will be exposed to a new adventurous offering. The development is the product of a collaboration between the Rwanda Development Board (RDB), Royal Balloon, and Akagera Management Company. Royal Balloon Rwanda will operate two hot air balloons that can accommodate 4 to 6 people under the terms of the arrangement. Tourists will also be able to fly as high as 100m to 1000m over the park’s magnificent savanna-covered landscapes, which are home to the big 5 – elephants, rhinos, lions, leopards, and buffaloes – and other diverse animals.

“We are delighted to collaborate with Royal Balloon Rwanda to provide another fascinating product to Rwanda’s adventure tourism experiences,” RDB CEO Clare Akamanzi said of the new experience.

“We are dedicated to continuing to forge new collaborations and enable additional investments in the tourist sector to satisfy travelers’ expectations while contributing to conservation in a sustainable manner,” she added. Akamanzi agreed with Atilla Turkmen, Managing Director of Royal Balloon Rwanda, who praised the organization’s collaboration with Akagera Management Company.

“This is an excellent illustration of how conservation can improve the natural environment and the lives of nearby communities,” he added. Turkmen said that with more than 30 years of tourism expertise, he would want to link himself with Rwanda’s long-term sustainable tourism strategy. “We believe that by offering this new tourism activity, we will be able to assist conservation efforts while also contributing to Rwandan tourism.” Ladies Ndahiriwe, Park Manager of Akagera National Park, believes that hot air ballooning will provide tourists with a thrilling new view of the park’s spectacular and distinctive landscapes while also helping financially to the park’s conservation.
